Beginners Makeup Artistry - 8 Week course

This course covers the fundamentals of hygiene, skincare and makeup application to enable students to provide makeup services to a professional standard.

This course gives the groundwork towards your career in makeup, whether it be in a hair or beauty salon, cosmetic counter, or as a mobile freelance makeup artist. The world is your oyster!

Each class begins with theory teaching followed by a demonstration. Students then put this knowledge to practice by working on each other in pairs. Our class numbers are kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one assistance from the tutors.

Our students are offered opportunities to participate in photo shoots, fashion shows, theatrical events and film and television projects.

Dunedin School of Makeup endeavours to use cruelty free makeup products, including The Ordinary, Juvia’s Place and Eye of Horus.

All brushes and makeup are supplied in the class kit for student use. Students will receive a small makeup gift to get their kits started.

The course culminates with a photo shoot day (date and time to be advised). All students will be given the chance to fully style their 3 models, from clothing & accessories to hair and makeup. You will be supplied images of your models to start off your portfolio.

Upon completion of the course and photo shoot students will gain the Dunedin School of Makeup Beginners Certificate in Professional Makeup Artistry.

This Certificate is not a nationally recognised Unit Standard, however it incorporates years of knowledge working in industry, ensuring excellent standards of hygiene and service. It will serve you well gaining employment in the local Otago area. We are also happy to provide verbal references for future job applications.
